hey guys, i might be picking up a 23ft hardtop in the next week or two. just wondering if anyone has any advice on upgrades or repairs the are normal for this boat. it has the merc 165hp inline 6, and the seller is throwing another running 6 with fresh water cooling into the deal. the boat will need work to get up and running but it looks like it should float. anyone have any idea what is underneath the deck on this boat??? is it foam filled or hollow??? if its the latter has anyone installed any hatches to store gear or do you think it will compromise the strength of the floor... thanks for any info in advance...

I just bought a 1975 28 foot John Allmand flybridge myself about a week ago....the boat is in excellent condition, but is in need of some engines and outdrives.....I was told it had chevy 350's with mercuriser alpha 1's....does this sound correct? I'm trying to find a setup that is the least amount of hassle to install as it has no engines at all now...thanks! Also, does anyone know how to pump the head....mine has a terrible odor.....maybe it's full?? DK

I also would like to know if you have any info on where I may get more information on how theese boats looked new. I would like to paint and get her looking better. Hello Chip. I know mine has all original. The original color is light blue and white. The engine is a Chevy 350 and the outdrive is an OMC 800. I just put the engine in along with the outdrive. Next step is the steering system; I have to replace it because the original is obsolete. I am doing the restoration slowly cause as you know ti takes money and time. Actually I am not restoring anything because nothing is broken only old, like the gauges (still working) and so on. If you want I can keep your e-mail address and in a few days I can take some pictures so you can see how they look. Any other thing, feel free to e-mail me and if you want, you can send me some photos of yours. Frank.

Hello. I bought a John Allmand 23' Ticonderoga and I am restoring it but, the boat was sitting in a house for about 5 years and the gas tanks (2) were left with gasoline inside and created some kind of varnish or jelly in the bottom. Any one knows how can I clean that up? I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

Subject: 1969 23 Allmand Citation II for sale

I have a great boat that I must sell due to hurricane Katrina. Unfortunately, rebuilding the house that it was parked behind is taking higher priority. Boat is in New Orleans. I restored the hull in 1992, re-powered w/ a new Yam Saltwater Series 225hp in 1998. Hung it on a custom 30" setback flotation bracket. The motor took water during Katrina, as did the hull interior. The boat is on a tandem axle galv traier (Skipper B) w/ heavy set-up bunk boards. If you know about the Allmand 23's construction, you know that the deckfloor, stringers and everything else is all fiberglass. The only wood that I know of is in the transom and it's OK. I'd like to sell it to someone who wants an Allmand project boat. This one is definitely salvage-able. It's a great, open fishing boat/runabout. I could drop a Volkswagen in the cockpit, it's so open! I can take pics and send to interested parties. Pls email me at address above, decipher it so it will work ("at"=@, "dot"=.). I did this to avoid the spam bots. thanks, RM

( I would like to add one of these too in the future.) This will be a labor of love and it will show in the work. Thanks, Joe

Subject: John Allmand Ranger 300

I have a 30' John Allmand FB I have owned for 8 years. I am in the final stages of a serious make over. I would just like to find others that own the same. My shop was originally in Miami about 3 miles from where the John Allmand factory was. I think it closed in the late 70's or early 80's. I know a lot about the boat and it's constuction, it is an incredible hull. They originally came with 302 Ford motors with 1:1 BW gears. I have replace them with 350 GM Vortex with 1.5:1 gears. A much better set up........ Ron

I have a 28' John Allmand that I just got back from previous sale to our mechanic. I am getting ready to restore in and out. Do you have a picture of your 34' If it is anything like the 31' I saw a few years ago in Ft Myers I think it is a great style. I have sentimental ties to our 28' boat. It was our first boat before we bought our 50' Hatteras we live on. We also have a fleet of center console rental boats. What little I know about the Allmand boats is they arebuilt to be "bullit proof" They were made in Hialeah, Fl. and in our boat club in Ft. Lauderdale there are 6 that I know of from 26 to 28'and their owners love them. There is one other 28' here in Key Largo aside from mine that I know of. I am looking for original sales info if you here of any.

Single screw Commander V8, merc 188 O/D. Colors of motor pad and other upholstery green and yellow.Boat had a number of disappearing chocks and cleats. My bet she's still a float. I have a picture. Hi. I got a 1966 23' Allmand Ticonderoga FB. I need to install a new steering system and was told it has to be the new rotaring system, but, the problem would be metal part that is fixed to the transom and the other end connects to the sterndrive. Would any one know how to solve this problem? It would be appreciated a lot. Thanks
