latley I have been thinking about building a motor sailer based on a flat bottomed boat like a sharpie about 35" long, it could have raised deck forward, small pilot house and a simple yawl or ketch rig, dont know about motor, outboards? What about keel or keels 2? anyone got any ideas.

Post Subject: Re: building a motor sailer...?

The boat that comes to my mind first is the Atkins "Great Bear". http://www.by-the-sea.com/atkin&co/ It is a 28' flat bottom sloop, but really a motor sailer. There is a writeup in John Atkin's book Practical Small Boat Designs. On the bigger-than-you-had-in-mind side, there is Bolger's 48' steel Solution. Peter
